Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly could be set to eye a move to Chelsea if his current club, who are currently third in the Serie A, fail to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims Chelsea made a late bid to sign the 25-year-old Senegal international last year, but the player instead opted to sign a new contract lasting until 2021.
“My friend (Chelsea manager Antonio) Conte will say it is not true but Chelsea offered me, in the last few days of the window, €58m for Koulibaly,” Laurentiis said last October.
“I explained to them that this year I could not sell him. But we will see next year.”
