Bayer Leverkusen sack coach Schmidt

Following bad form including 11 defeats in 23 league games, the end of their Champions League run this season and their 6-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Satuday, Bayer Leverkusen have sacked manager Roger Schmidt.

The club have fallen to ninth in Germany’s top flight, five points behind European spots and 11 behind the top four.

Schmidt took charge in 2014 after impressing as RB Salzburg’s coach, leading them to 4th place in his first season and 3rd after.
